The Beer Flavour

The wine industry has done an excellent job over the last decade of showing us that wine is a complex and exciting drink perhaps un-matched by any other beverage.
As a result we have developed a whole sub-culture of wine appreciation and food matching, this sub-culture generating it's hero's such as Huon Hooke and Ralph Kyte-Powell to guide us on our quest to understand a huge and wonderfully complex product arena.
However there are about 200 more flavour components in the average beer than the average wine.
Beer has more styles and more varieties produced around the world by far and from a production point of view, the 144 billion litres of beer produced every year puts the 26 billion litres of wine produced around the world into perspective.
By taking some time to dig a little further into the world of beer, you will find that beer can perhaps match wine for it's interest and ability to complement food. You can then take the best of both exciting and interesting worlds.
